Emma Watson can't get a date. The doe-eyed Harry Potter star has everything going for her -- she's gorgeous, smart, talented, and has a great accent -- but the guys at Brown University weren't really interested in getting to know more about Ms. Watson. What?
After realizing that she was in denial about her level of fame, the 21-year-old student has decided to leave the Rhode Island Ivy League school after having trouble balancing work, school, and the stress of a non-existent love life.
The New York Daily News reported that Watson's friends comforted her by saying that dudes were too intimidated to ask her out. I'd be pretty frustrated if I were her.
Considering the flood of recent news about men sexting (Weiner) and having extraordinary affairs (Arnold), isn't it such a shame that our guys feel the need to hide behind their phones and their lies and can't ask a girl out for real?
Especially in Emma's case. Could there be a more lovely specimen on Earth? Negatory. Unfortunately it seems that they'd rather sit in their dorm rooms, or their government office, and fiddle with a phone camera and Facebook.
Watson contemplated her lack of a love life when she talked to The Sunday Times.
I say to my friends, "Why hasn't X called me? Why doesn't anyone ever pursue me?" They're like, "Probably because they're intimidated." It must be the fame wall. It must be the circus that goes around me. Me, as a person, I find it hard to believe I would be intimidating.
But it's not only that she was ignored. She got noticed by some guys all right, but for all the wrong reasons. Mmmhmm. She was picked on. Smooth moves, Sherlocks!
I constantly get stuff like, do I have a magic wand I can sort things out with? Or guys come up to me and go, "Where's Harry? Where's Ron?" Sometimes, maybe because they feel intimidated, they feel they have to knock me down. They know perfectly well who I am, but they'll ask me, "How are the Narnia films going?"
Let that be a message to all the Brown students, and all men beyond the coddled walls of campus life, that it's a good idea to look up from your keypads now and again and pay attention to the world, and the women, right in front of you. Emma was just a girl, standing in front of an entire freshman class, asking you to love her. And you blew it. But hey -- nice penis pics!
Have you found that some men you've met are more into hidden, faceless relationships than going after a real, meaningful one?
