Can you believe it? Kristin Cavallari, the hard-partying bitch with a killer bod from The Hills, is engaged to Chicago Bears quarterback, Jay Cutler. Crazy! I thought I would be an old lady before I ever saw that wild gal settle down. I also think I need to get a life.
Before I do that, though, let's discuss something, a trend Kristin seems to be taking part in -- female "celebrities" and the pairing off with athletes. Am I right? Doesn't it seem to be sweeping the nation? There's Carrie Underwood and hockey player Mike Fisher. There was Eva Longoria and basketball player Tony Parker. Jessica Simpson just got engaged to ex-football player Eric Johnson (and before that she was with Tony Romo). Cameron Diaz and A-Rod. What is going on?
It used to be all the (famous) single ladies wound up with actors or musicians. I miss that. Can we please bring it back?
I must admit, I am biased, though. I've never had a thing for athletes. I always gravitated towards shy, weird, "artsy" boys, who did things like played in bands or wrote poetry on the backs of receipts because they just "had to get it out." David Beckham? Pass. Well, maybe not totally pass. But, I'll take Dave Grohl any day of the week.
The thing with these guys is, though, no matter how adorable and sexy they are on the outside, no matter how many snapdragons they leave on your car (roses are far too lamestream for these dudes), inside is a fire that lies dormant until provoked. That's when things like heated arguments and trashing hotel rooms happen, followed by an awesome power ballad after the make-up.
Athletes are just boring. During the season, they have to be all healthy and straight-laced. The only thing that ever happens when women get together with sports stars is cheating. Bo-ring! I want to see couples with passion! Couples with fire! Couples like Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz in Vicky Cristina Barcelona! Muy caliente!
Whatever, though. I actually don't think Kristin and Jay will be all that boring, because that girl likes to party. Surely a little dramz will come out of that. And if it doesn't, we can all take solace in the fact that it probably won't last all that long anyway.
What do you think of Kristin and Jay's engagement? What about female celebs and athletes?
