Eva Longoria is an inspiration -- and not because the Desperate Housewives star and her basketball hubby Tony Parker are talking about adoption.
That sounds all mushy gushy wonderful. But then I learned that Longoria and Parker make it a point to play music while they're having sex.
They get the Sade cranking to get in the mood. That sounds exactly like the sort of mushy gushy fun stuff couples do before they have to worry that cranking up the tunes will bring a cranky toddler into their room just in time to see Mommy climb on top of Daddy. Don't worry about getting caught, you've got all the time in the world to find the iPod, get to the song, and get back in bed!
But if Eva Longoria thinks she can have it both ways, so can the rest of America -- parents included. This is why they make pre-programmed playlists and volume reduction.
Here's a start to your playlist (Sade is even on there):
If You're Into the Foreplay:
"Too Close" by Next
"You're Makin' Me High" by Toni Braxton
"Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin
"I'm a Slave 4 U" by Britney Spears
"You Make Me Wanna" by Usher
"Dirrty" by Christina Aguilera
If You're Babymaking:
It's got to be sweet and slow, so anything by Luther Vandross (except "Dance With My Father" -- that's a tad Oedipal) will do.
"I'll Make Love to You" by Boyz II Men
"Let's Stay Together" by Al Green
If You're Pretending You're a Teenager Again:
Anything by Led Zeppelin
"I Kissed a Girl" by Katy Perry
If You Can Laugh at Yourself in the Bedroom:
"Freak Like Me" by Adina Howard
"I Wanna Sex You Up" by Color Me Badd. Try not to laugh at the memories, we dare you.
"Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" by Rod Stewart. Sometimes, it's so bad it's good.
Also good: the same stuff you have on your stereo when you're just hanging out in the house will do. Being comfortable with someone is sexy, and songs that make you happy fit right in.
If You're an Athlete in the Bedroom:
"Promiscuous" by Nelly Furtado
"Push It" by Salt N Pepa
"You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC
"Closer" by Nine Inch Nails
If You're a Hopeless Romantic:
"Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers. Sure, it's old school. But it worked for Maverick on Top Gun, didn't it?
"I Wanna Know" by Joe
"The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra (or Michael Buble if you must)
"You're the First, the Last, My Everything" by Barry White
"No Ordinary Love" by Sade
