Flickr photo by Studio494 (Simon)I've been fantasizing about my wedding anniversary this year. Mostly because it means we're headed back to NYC for a long weekend without the kids and I'm missing that town like crazy.
But the thing I love most about our anniversary tradition is that it's not your typical date night -- we go out in the afternoon.
Our first wedding anniversary happened not long after our daughter was born and we still weren't back into the nightlife scene (umm, as if we are now), so we decided on a fancy lunch with cocktails, home in time to put her to bed, then time for ourselves and no waking up sleep-deprived and/or hungover.
The lunch date was a huge success and not only for the practical reasons listed above. Say you don't have kids or you drop the kids off at a friend's house. Uh huh. Then you've got the house to yourselves and free range to have some amazing sex with the daylights on. There's no "I'm exhausted and need to go to bed" feeling. Also, free time during the day is the ultimate aphrodisiac. Kids or not -- when's the last time you had that going for you?
This is why I've been in love with the daytime date for some time. Plus, hit up your four-star joint in the afternoon, and you won't have to wait a month for a reservation or spend your week's salary on a meal. Anyway you slice it, it's a win.
What's your favorite time of day for a date?
