Trust is important in any relationship, but what should you do if you suspect that your partner is telling a serious fib? That was the question one man had after his wife tried to explain why she wouldn't wear her wedding ring when she went out clubbing with her fiends, but he's not buying it. The husband is unsure what he's supposed to do. Is she lying or does she really leave her ring at home so that she can get "free drinks?"

  • According to the man, his wife came home and told him that she had a "good reason" for pretending to be single while out with her friends.

In a post on Reddit, he explained that his wife seems to have been clubbing a lot with her girlfriends recently, but he was really shocked when he saw she left her ring at home. He texted her and asked why she wasn't wearing her wedding ring, to which she responded, "it’s so she can get free drinks from guys."

The man isn't sure what to think. Is his wife flirting with guys when she's out on the town?

  • Online, people were pretty sure his wife's story was fishy.

There is no way she was only pretending to be single, they reasoned. "Women don't seek attention from other men in a healthy functioning relationship," one person wrote in the comments. "Something is wrong with [Original Poster's] marriage and this is just a symptom of it. He would be wise to figure out what is causing it or he is in for an (expletive) divorce."

"Yea, thats super (expletive) up and I see no way she could legitimately justify it," another person added. "Pretending to be single when you're not is as close as you can get to cheating without actually cheating."

And someone else thought this husband deserved to be ticked. "If she's pulling that stunt, you have every right to confront her and be absolutely livid. That's not fair or okay to you," the person commented.

  • In an updated post, the man wrote he finally confronted his wife about her party-girl ways.

In a second post from April 16, the man wrote that he finally had a heart-to-heart with his wife and she agreed that they needed to work things out in counseling. But it was there that she revealed the shocking truth.

"Yes, she admitted during counseling that she did occasionally make out with other guys when going out drinking with friends," he continued. "On her behalf, her issue was that she felt I was not prioritizing her enough."

He wrote that he's finally realized that as a husband he's made some mistakes too. "I never bothered (to) ask what she wanted from me," he wrote. "She has been considering a divorce for about a year now, so this might be what our relationship would ultimately come to."

It looks as if the two might be heading for a split. "All I have to say is that this past year for us hasn’t exactly been the best for us. This might be the most time we have spent talking every day for a while - discussing divorce plans, where we plan to go, who’s keeping what, etc." he added.

But in the end, the man thought that posting his problem online had been the best thing for his relationship.

We don’t hate each other. We both realized we are drifting apart, sooner than we realized. But we aren’t really motivated enough to keep ourselves together. This might be for the best. If I hadn’t posted anything about the ring situation and approached it head on, I probably would have been in even more of a mess.
