There's always drama to be expected when it comes to wedding planning, but things are officially next-level for one family after a woman discovered that her mother-in-law was stealing from her husband to pay for her daughter's bash. According to Reddit user Justnowhyme, her MIL used her husband's personal information to secretly open up a credit card in his name. She then charged thousands of dollars to host his sister's dream wedding .... without ever mentioning or paying the charges back. Now more than $8,000 has gone into collection in Justnowhyme's husband's name, and the Redditor is wondering how to deal with this gigantic mess.

The drama went viral after the anonymous wife shared the web of lies her mother-in-law was caught in.

In the thread posted on November 30, Justnowhyme explained that she was "just completely at a loss for words right now."

According to the Reddit user, her sister-in-law got married last September and "my husband and I estimated that everything probably cost around $15,000-$20,000." Knowing that the wedding cost her SIL a pretty penny, Justnowhyme assumed that her MIL stepped in and helped -- even though she had refused to help Justnowhyme and her son when they got married.

"My MIL at first told us they wouldn’t be paying a thing for our wedding (three years ago) but my [father-in-law] eventually said they would pay for the flowers (a few hundred dollars and we were very grateful for it)," she wrote.

Justnowhyme continued to explain that financially, her SIL is in the same position that she and her husband were in when they got married. But she didn't let the fact that her in-laws had been more generous with her SIL bother her too much. "I sort of figured my MIL wasn’t a fan of our very simple wedding so she was far more willing to help make my SIL’s wedding something bigger and it was a really nice wedding/reception," she reasoned.

But that was all before her husband received a letter in the mail from a collection agency. According to them, he had $8,000 in outstanding debt and it would make a deal for $5,000 if he paid it off now.

When her husband called the credit card company, they confirmed that the charges were real and that his parents' home address was listed. When he confronted his parents, they denied knowing about it and his mom tried throwing Justnowhyme under the bus.

"When he said he would just have to report it as theft to the police, he said his mother’s demeanor changed completely, telling him he shouldn’t go to the police and should just take the $5,000 off to pay it off. She said something about there’s a good chance I was the one who opened the account and probably had a secret shopping habit," she wrote.

Confused, Justnowhyme's husband continued trying to figure out where the charges came from until his mom finally confessed.

When Justnowhyme assured his mom that there was no way she was involved in this and suggested just letting the police figure it out, she finally came clean.

His mother admitted to taking out a credit card in his name to pay for his sister's wedding because she couldn't afford it. This very illegal act not only was a huge betrayal of trust but also could ruin Justnowhyme and her husband's plans for buying a house.

Obviously Justnowhyme is devastated, but the question remains: How do they deal with this and their in-laws?

To say that people online were p*ssed about Justnowhyme's situation is an understatement.

Everyone agreed this was not something that could be swept under the rug.

In the end, Justnowhymen said that she and her husband have decided to file a report and press charges.

"The police report has been made!" she wrote. "(My husband) said it only took about 20 minutes and I guess they see this stuff all the time."

Hopefully mom learns her lesson..
