This Bridesmaid Was Kicked Out of Her Friend's Wedding Party & Twitter Is Divided

Although being a bridesmaid is considered a special honor, it can also be a big commitment. It typically involves buying a dress, travel expenses, and not to mention the time and energy. So it's not very surprising that this topic can stir up some debate -- especially when the bride kicks you out of her wedding party over email and asks for the outfit back.

  • Courtney Duffy recently shared an email on Twitter where her friend "relinquished" her of her duties as a bridesmaid.

As reported by Scary Mommy, Courtney's friend and bride-to-be, Alex, was concerned about Courtney not being able to show up for the bachelorette trip or the full day of the wedding. She was just flying in for the wedding ceremony due to grad school obligations. Therefore, Alex decided to give the job to someone else ... and ask for the bridesmaid jumpsuit to be shipped back so the new girl could wear it.

Courtney took to Twitter to ask JetBlue to do her a favor and help her get out of her already purchased plane ticket so she could "avoid this wedding at all costs."

With the email attached, Courtney wrote on Twitter:

"SOS JetBlue! Booked my X-C flights for a wedding, then was asked ‘to relinquish’ my ‘duties as a bridesmaid’ & mail my bridesmaid outfit X-C so another girl could fill in and wear it (Happy bday to me!),” she wrote. “I am laughing & crying & must avoid this wedding at all costs. Pls help?”

  • People across Twitter have A LOT of feeling about the situation.

Although Courtney has since made her Twitter private (she probably wasn't expecting the tweet to go viral), there are still hundreds of visible responses to the thread.

  • Many people are totally sticking up for Courtney.

  • And some people are totally on #TeamBride and went hard defending Alex.

  • Even JetBlue chimed in on the debate!

  • Others are much more fixated on the returning of the bridesmaid jumpsuit.

  • Well, it's really none of our business what Courtney does with the jumpsuit ...

But maybe these friends will be able to work it out in the long run! Hopefully things can get patched up before the wedding ... but we wouldn't count on it.
