According to a well-known 2005 comedy, most wedding-crashing incidents involve dropping in on someone's big day and grabbing some booze, wedding cake, and dance-floor space before vanishing back into the night.

However, that's not always the case.

Earlier this month, Karen Fox Tufo and her now-husband, Michael Tufo, tied the knot in New Jersey and noticed two unfamiliar people at the reception. "We knew from the second we saw them, they didn't belong," Fox Tufo told KFOR. "When they first sat down, the table called them Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn." (Wilson and Vaughn starred in the popular film Wedding Crashers.)

The biggest clue was a gift that the two crashers left for the newlyweds: a card with a polaroid of the themselves, plus a dollar inside -- or a "buck for luck," as they called it. "Congratulations!" it also read. "Sorry for crashing your wedding."

"Well played, my friends ... well played!!!" Fox Tufo posted on Facebook, along with two photos of the card. "I need to meet these people and buy them a drink. Professional job! You gave us the best wedding present anyone could ever ask for!"

Fox Tufo was so entertained by the crashers that she went on social media and a TV interview with CBS New York to track them down.

Eventually, one ended up identifying herself. Carly Wolfson messaged an apology to Fox Tufo on Facebook. She also went on to explain that it was just an (extremely adventerous) first date with Ritchie Barry.

The two had planned out a fake backstory and even outfits, but Wolfson thought they would get cold feet.

"I didn't think he was going to go through with it," Wolfson told CBS New York. "I was just like, 'I'm picking you up at this time, what's your address? Get ready!'" Apparently, Barry accepted the challenge and the two went through with crashing the wedding, brilliantly improvising the entire way.

Like Wilson and Vaughn, the couple were the life of the party, making friends and family dance, photobombing, and even finding a seat at the best man's table.

Thankfully, everyone had a good attitude about the ordeal, with Fox Tufo even calling their crash the "best gift ever."

We can only hope the Tufos are invited to Barry and Wolfson's potential wedding.
