Frances Bean Cobain Gets Married -- Without Mom Courtney Love by Her Side

frances bean cobain courtney loveCourtney Love and the late Kurt Cobain's daughter Frances Bean Cobain got married last week to her boyfriend of five years, Isaiah Silva. The wedding has been described as "small and intimate" but what is really getting tongues wagging is the fact that Courtney Love was NOT one of the handful of invited guests.

Ouch. In some ways, this isn't too surprising. Courtney and Frances Bean have had a difficult relationship for many years, dating back to even before Courtney lost legal guardianship of her back in 2009 when Frances was just 17. After battles on Twitter and some pretty unpredictable behavior on Love's part, the two weren't spotted together in public for over 5 years.

But earlier this year, the pair appeared together at the premiere of Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck. They even exchanged a few pleasant messages and birthday greetings on Twitter, leading people to wonder if perhaps their relationship had improved.

But given the invite snub and Love's passive-aggressive Instagram picture in response, I'm going to guess these two aren't exactly tight.

As a mom, I'd be devastated not to be invited to my child's wedding. That is such a major milestone and to think that the kid I loved, nursed, got up a million times for during night and would have died for didn't want me around on one of the biggest days of his or her life? Oof. My heart can't handle that.

That being said, I can't help but speculate that the reason Frances Bean didn't want her mother there is because maybe they just aren't that close. After years of drug addiction and strange behavior, maybe Frances Bean just didn't want to deal with the drama on her big day. I can support that.

It also makes me feel like I'm probably doing okay in terms of the chance of future wedding invites from my kids. No Twitter wars, drug use, or public nudity here, so I think a prime wedding seat for when my one of my kids finally gets hitched is still in my future. Fingers crossed!
