Amber Heard Won't Let Husband Johnny Depp Tie Her Down

johnny depp amber heard met gala 2015When you get married to one of the most beloved actors of our time, your life changes, right? Eh, not so much, says Amber Heard who tied the knot twice wih Johnny Depp back in February. The 29-year-old actress opened up about her relationship to ELLE in the magazine's July issue, noting that, "Nothing is a dramatic change."

She elaborated:

We've been together for a long time now, so it's been a fairly organic process. I have a fiercely independent spirit.

And that all seems to go hand-in-hand with her blissed out relationship, saying of her new husband, "I fall in love again and again."

Although she wouldn't go into too much more detail about her marriage, which she aims to shield from the masses (good for her!), she did speak to getting more famous and that "independent spirit," noting:

The thing that really scares me is the potential of losing my freedom. I never want for my life to lose the ability to transverse the world, with freedom and ease—the freedom and ease I have worked so hard to acquire for myself.

Sounds like she has no interest in letting either celebrity or her vows keep her from jet-setting or calling her own shots -- and thank goodness for that!

Even the most liberal, laidback couple -- and the Heard-Depps certainly seem to fit that description -- will admit that there's something about getting hitched that injects your relationship with a bit of traditionalism. Just the words "wife" and "husband" can make you feel more committed and tied to that person. But it certainly does not need to quash the energy you devote to your career, your ability to travel on your own, use your own name -- as Amber and many women do now -- of course.

A healthy marriage fosters your "spirit" -- be it independent, fiery, freedom-loving. And the fact that Amber has that with Johnny speaks volumes about their relationship. If they can keep that up, they'll likely be falling in love "again and again" for some time.

What do you think about Amber being a "fiercely independent" wife? How have you asserted your independence in your own marriage?
