Jerk Boyfriend Scares Daylights Out of Girlfriend With ‘Ghost’ (VIDEO)

I'm not a fan of pranks in general. But I'm totally an un-fan of scary, crap-your-pants pranks. Even more so when they're perpetrated by your partner -- the person you love and trust. It seems like this woman forgave her boyfriend for pulling one of the most blood-curdling pranks I've seen -- but you wonder how the relationship will go after the camera turns off. James Williams wanted to see what would happen if he convinced his unsuspecting girlfriend that a little girl ghost who was featured in The Ring was real -- and crawling out of their TV set. Right at her.

Williams, who must have a lot of time on his hands, spent weeks designing a puppet that looked like Samara, the ghost from The Ring. He then waited until his girlfriend was fast in dreamy land before setting up the puppet -- and a camera, of course -- to scare the bejesus out of her. Check it out and make sure your volume is on low unless you enjoy the sound of windowpane-rattling squeals:

Williams doesn't seem like the sharpest knife in the drawer, so it's not exactly a surprise that her reaction caught him off guard. He wrote on YouTube:

I thought she'd scream, then realize it was me joking around. I felt quite bad after. I also had my mother ring me, early Saturday morning worried about her and told me she wanted to punch my fucking face in.

Mom knows best! He added:

I had to stop her running out of the house ... She said, "My legs went like jelly."

Poor girl should have kept on running! I'm not absolutely sure I'd dump a guy who did this to me (it would depend how everything else was going) -- but I'd sure be tempted to. It shows a complete lack of maturity. Maybe this taught him his lesson. In general, I think if a guy has some kind of jones to scare the crap out of you, he's got some deep-rooted issues with women. I mean, WHY would you want to see your girlfriend's hair stand on end from terror? But men seem to have a thing for scaring their girlfriends -- especially if they're proposing. I think it gives guys who don't know how to deal with feelings of vulnerability a sense of power.

Relationships are scary enough. We put our hearts on the line. We know that at any moment we could discover the person we've built a life around is not the person we thought. It takes a lot of trust, respect, and honesty to want to be that vulnerable with someone. Wouldn't it be great if instead of spending weeks making a puppet to scare his girlfriend, James spent weeks trying to think up ways to make her happy?

If you look at all of the other pranks James brags about on his YouTube page, you can see this dude is emotionally stunted.

Now this girl will probably have trouble falling asleep around her boyfriend. Or maybe anywhere. Ever. Call me a grump, but I just don't find it that funny. I hope she at least gave him permission to put this on the Internet. But somehow I doubt he asked.

Do you think pranks in relationships can go too far? Have you ever been pranked by a partner?
