Newlywed Couple Can’t Have Sex Because Wife Is Allergic to Husband’s Sperm

Imagine meeting the love of your life and quickly getting married. And only then do you discover that you're not quite compatible in the sack. And I don't mean that he likes it in the morning, you like it after dinner. I mean you have sex and your vayjay feels like it's burning a hole through your kidneys. Says newlywed Clara about getting it on for the first time with her husband, Jeff:

"I had burning and swelling and redness, which was very unusual. I thought I had contracted an STD."

Clara prepped herself for an awkward conversation with hubster, but after several doctor's visits, it turned out that Jeff hadn't passed along an STD. He'd merely passed along his man juice. And that was a big problem. Because it turns out that Clara was allergic to her husband's sperm.

Clara had something called seminal plasma hypersensitivity, which is a fancy way of saying she was allergic to her husband's baby makers. Jeff told ABC News:

It was a real problem, because everything else was great. We were madly in love, but it was a real game-changer for a while.

This condition apparently isn't that uncommon. Some women break out in hives, others can experience sharp pain.

Condoms didn't seem to help. And even more oddly, Jeff began to experience allergy symptoms similar to what Clara was experiencing. Doctors were baffled by that one, but antihistamines seem to help him. No such luck for Clara.

Both Clara and Jeff say they'd never experienced anything like this with other partners before. Seems this couple managed to find the only other person in the world they were sexually allergic to. Talk about odds.

As you can surmise, all of this began to take its toll on the couple's sex life. Clara began avoiding anything that might put Jeff in the mood, which saved money on sexy lingerie, but didn't do much for their intimacy. The couple went 10 months hardly having sex. "All of a sudden, you are more like roommates," said Jeff.

Eventually the couple met with a medical expert who was able to dilute Jeff's sperm and inject it into Clara over the course of three hours in order to build up her immunity to it. Since then, sex has been much better. Clara has even initiated the nasty.

You have to wonder if there's some silver lining here, and I'd have to say there is, in a way. Most couples start off hot and heavy in the bedroom and ignore personality traits that become problematic after the honeymoon period wears off. But Jeff and Clara did the opposite. The early days of their marriage were practically sexless, so they had a lot of opportunity to get to know each other without being blinded by lust. They can get blinded NOW.

Have you ever had painful sex? What did you do about it?
