5 Ways Women Can Act Like Christian Grey in the Bedroom

dominant womanEver since Fifty Shades of Grey came into our world, all we've been hearing about is dominant sex, women being spanked, and something or other about an inner goddess. It's been fun, I guess, but not entirely accurate. Well, OK OK, it's fiction, so it has no need to reflect the Yale University study that suggests that men who feel the need to be dominant in the bedroom are less likely to ask women what they want, and are less inclined to have any discussion about their needs, as well.

Which is to say, if you stick within the stereotypical gender roles, your sex life could suffer. Sounds like it's time to become Ms. Christina Grey and take matters into your own hands, right? Here are 5 ways to be more dominant in the bedroom.

  • Be demanding outside the bedroom. If he's into your dominance, he (and you, too) might find it sexy to start the foreplay before getting home. Demand he carry your purse. Force him to hold your hand. Authoritative requests will set the mood ... in a good way.
  • It's all about attitude. And posture, and what you say, and how you carry yourself. Sounds like a lot, so why not use the help of something that makes you feel strong, powerful, or sexy? Wear something that makes you feel awesome. And remember, don't slouch. Image can be everything.
  • Start out slow. It's a marathon, not a sprint. If you're trying to be dominant for the first time, just make plain, straightforward requests without being, well, too nice. Tell what you want how you want ... then later down the road, you can advance to snarling your demands, should you so please.
  • Toys 'R Fun. Use the rope, the handcuffs, the blindfold, and all that other stuff you bought from the Fifty Shades sex toy set to "torture" your man while you hold him captive.
  • Be nothing if not confident. Mean what you say and say what you mean. If that means you gotta practice saying a few demands in front of the mirror just to get the feel of things, by all means.

Have you ever tried being dominant in the bedroom?
