'Jersey Shore' Cast May Have Signed STD Contracts -- Shocker!

SnookiOh, those demure Jersey Shore kids! When MTV signed up Snooki, JWoww, The Situation, and the rest, it knew it had an explosive mix of sex, alcohol, and cheesiness, and the ratings proved this is what the people want (god help them)! But MTV isn't stupid either. It knew this mix could get the cast into trouble -- and I'm not talking about their many arrests. I'm talking about VD here, people. STDs. Sexually transmitted diseases. AIDS. Herpes. Gonorrhea. MTV didn't care much if anyone got an STD, mind you. But it didn't want to be held responsible for it. So apparently the cast had to sign a "VD waiver," promising they wouldn't sue the network in case any of the cast members got the fire down below.

This disgusting new detail is revealed in a novel about the reality TV show business called King of Pain by Seth Kaufman. And indeed a venereal disease can cause a world of pain. Or itch. Or kind of a combination. Not that I would know!

More from The Stir: Shocking 'Jersey Shore' Salaries Get the Cast Into More Trouble Than Its Worth

In case you always wanted to know what a "VD clause" looks like (you know you do), here is the part in the contract that apparently the Jersey Shore cast had to sign:

Producer hereby informs me, and I acknowledge and accept, that the other participants have not been screened for any diseases, sicknesses or other health conditions (and specifically have not been tested for any sexually transmitted diseases) and I assume all risks of interacting with the other participants, including any consensual contact.

But the Jersey Shore kids aren't being singled out for their sluttiness -- there are plenty of sluts in reality TV. And word has it that it's standard to sign the STD contract. Except for the Kardashians. They wouldn't need one! Hardy har.

Does a reality show VD clause surprise you?
