The 7 REAL Reasons Why You're Still Not Married

wedding ringsTracy McMillan, a writer for Mad Men and the author of Why You're Not Married ... Yet, has come out with another one of her lists of reasons why a single woman may not find herself married. McMillan, who has been married not once, but three times, is apparently uber-qualified to tell women why they are unmarried. Let's face it, McMillan might not be good at staying married, but she's excellent at getting married. So there!

Her last list created quite a ruckus, what with McMillan saying things like, if you weren't married, it was because you were either a bitch, a slut, a liar, or not good enough. Her new list, called "Why You're Still Not Married," is just as desperate for clicks. Check it, ladies. If you're still not married yet, it's because you are either a mess, crazy, a dude, or godless. Ho hum.

I've come up with some other reasons that a gal may still find herself unmarried. Here ya go:

You're happy. That's right, you're happy with your life. So happy that you see no need to make a major change to it.

You like sex. We all know that stops once you get married.

You don't want to be miserable. You know, like your married friends.

You haven't found the right guy. And you're not going to marry just anyone, so you can then get divorced, and do that two more times, like Tracy McMillan did.

You like your money. And you don't want to give half of it away if things don't work out.

You like sex. I thought this bears repeating.

You don't want to read Fifty Shades of Grey. Apparently if you're married, you have to read it. It's like a law or something.

The guy you love doesn't want to get married. Last I knew, you can't force someone to tie the knot. At least, not anymore.

If this all sounds anti-marriage, it's not. No more so than McMillan's piece is anti-single. She makes some valid points -- the archetypal women she describes in her essay sound like just about every woman at one point or another in her life. Or maybe just on a bad day. And my reasons are what every unmarried woman thinks once and awhile when she contemplates marriage.

Isn't it great that we live in a country where we are free to choose whether we want to get married and free to respect the choices of others?

If you are single, what are some reasons you are?
