Billy Bob Thornton Says Angelina Jolie Made Him 'Insecure' & 'Chicken'

angelina jolieWe've all done it. We look at the hottest guy or girl in the room and think, "Yeah, it would be cool to be with that person." Add in that the gorgeous babe is rich and successful. Sounding even better. And, oh yeah, that person goes around the globe helping orphans and poor people. Now you have the perfect person ... to run from! Because you know a person like this -- so beautiful, so successful, so good -- is going to do nothing but make you feel like an insecure wreck. Such is life if you are Billy Bob Thornton and are married to Angelina Jolie.

Thornton, who was the guy Ange was with before Brad Pitt, told Nightline:

I blew it because I didn’t think I was good enough for her ... She has one way she wanted to live her life and I had another way to live mine and I was just too insecure ... I chickened out because I didn’t feel good enough.

This is a shame because it seems like Angelina was madly in love with Billy Bob at one point. Remember how they slobbered all over each other in public? And wore vials of each other's blood? Oh, they were so in luuuuuv. And the two are still friends. She even wrote the foreward to his book, The Billy Bob Tapes: A Cave Full of Ghosts.

But it's not surprising that Billy Bob felt Ange was out of his league. Apparently even his friends were telling him that he "didn't deserve" her. Sheesh.

Not that Billy Bob is a schlump or anything, but she's Angelina Jolie. Most of us think being with the hottest, most successful person around would be great. But studies show that the couples who do best tend to match up in looks and money. Call me cynical, but that 70-year-old virgin looking to marry the tall, handsome, rich dude? Not gonna happen.

Don't feel too bad, Billy Bob. Most people would feel a tad insecure around Angelina Jolie. Plus, she was going to meet Brad on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith and that might have gone badly for you. Just sayin'.

Have you ever been with someone out of your league?
