Russell Brand Shouldn't Date Katy Perry Look-Alike Zooey Deschanel

Zooey DeschanelColor this weird and creepy. You know how everybody is always saying that Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel look alike? Well, Russell Brand, Katy's soon-to-be-if-not-already-ex-husband, is reportedly pursuing Zooey right now. Isn't that weird and creepy?

According to OK! magazine (I know), Russell has had his British peepers on Deschanel ever since he and Katy split. A trusty source says,”Russell has had his eye on Zooey for a long time and he’s been sending funny, flirty texts to see if they can get together.” And apparently he wants to work with her, also. Source continued: “He thinks she’s hysterically funny and cute, too,” the source dished. “He loves her quirky sense of humor, and thinks they’d be great together both on- and off-screen. There’s a real spark there.”

Dating your ex's doppelganger before the ink on the divorce papers is even dry? Oof, is this a crap idea if I've ever heard one.

For the record, I'm against getting involved with anyone too quickly after a break-up. This is incredibly lame-sounding, but it's true: You need time to heal, grow, get over stuff, etc. But hooking up with someone who looks uncannily similar to your former love takes things to a new level of dysfunction.

Clearly, Russell isn't over Katy. I mean, I get it if he's into porcelain-skinned girls with black hair and blue eyes -- we all have our types -- I'm a sucker for scrawny dudes with stubble. But, if he must date right now, he should deviate a little. This can't possibly end well for him. And if Zooey does agree to go out with him, it won't be fair to her. She'll just be a stand-in.

If there's one thing I know, though, it's you can't tell a broken-hearted person what to do. No matter how sane and rational the advice you're giving them is. But you can say, "I told you so" when things crash and burn. Actually, just kidding. You can't do that. But you can think it.

Have you ever dated someone who looked like an ex?
