2011's Most Outrageous, Lavish & Romantic Weddings

2011 may go down as the year of the wedding. Between Kate Middleton and Prince William, Kim Kardashian and Nick Lachey, it was a year of love and wedded "bliss" (at least until all the cake is eaten).

In a year so rife with wedding bells, it is hard to pick just five, but there were five big standouts in the crows.

Here are the five biggest weddings of 2011:

  • The Royal Wedding: Obviously, this biggest wedding on this list is the royal wedding. The day Kate Middleton became a Duchess was watched around the world by nearly everyone. She was beautiful, he was handsome and their love was epic. It was the wedding of the year, sure. But it may have even been the wedding of the decade.
  • Kim Kardashian and Chris Humphries: OK, so the marriage did not even last the rest of the year, but the wedding itself was a spectacle for he ages. Kim Kardashian married Humphries in a lavish wedding that pulled out all the stops and cost a blood fortune. Even their ending was spectacular. There are no words for the sheer amount of air time this wedding took away from other news, but there can be no doubt that it was one of 2011's biggest weddings
  • Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey: We all saw his first marriage crumble on national TV and many sided with the one-time boy bander. So when he was remarried to the woman of his dreams in July, it was very easy to be happy for him, especially since the two of them seem so genuinely happy and in love.
  • Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth: It is almost impossible not to love Reese. She is just so smart and driven and talented and everything we all want to be in our careers and personal lives. so yes, her wedding is a big deal and she played it perfectly. She was elegant and understated. There was no spectacle or massive push in the days leading up to it. She was simply in love and simply ready to make that commitment. It was perfect. Just like her.
  • Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison: This was less an amazing celebration and more of a slow-motion train wreck. Actor Doug Hutchison, 51, married singer and aspiring starlet Stodden, 17. We all freaked and raged, true. But we also talked about it non-stop, thus earning it a place on this list.
