Anne Hathaway & Adam Shulman Are Already Headed for Trouble

adam shulman and anne hathawaySo, super adorable, super famous star Anne Hathaway recently got engaged to her boyfriend of three years, Adam Shulman. Congrats to the happy couple! Now ... who the hell is Adam Shulman?

Well, for one, he's cute. I know that doesn't tell you much about who he is per se, but it's worth noting that he sort of -- sort of -- has a bit of a Ryan Gosling thing going on. Just sayin'. And as far as non-appearance-related information on Shulman goes, well, I really can't tell you all that much. But I can tell you that the dude is both a jewelry designer and an actor.

Oh yes. An actor. An actor that you would have never known existed if it weren't for his Oscar-nominated fiancee. Does anybody else smell trouble?

In recent years, Shulman has chosen to focus more of his efforts on the jewelry-designing side of his career -- and that's probably a good thing, because not only is his acting resume rather scant, odds are he'll never be as famous as his soon-to-be-Catwoman counterpart.

I know, I know, it's not a competition. But, in a way, it sort of is. Particularly when it involves two people who are in the same field. When there's a gross imbalance of power -- career power -- in relationships, it typically paves the way for arguments and a feeling of overall tension. Especially if the man is the one who is "losing" the competition.

I'm sure there are some exceptions, and if Shulman is one of those ultra-secure dudes who doesn't give a rat's about how his fiance's career is way more successful than his, more power to him. But I sort of doubt that it doesn't bother him a little bit -- being that he's a human being and all.

My advice to Anne and Adam? Well, I really don't have any advice, to be honest. Hopefully, his jewelry business will take off and Anne's acting career will continue to skyrocket. Then they'll be one, big, happy, uber-rich couple and everything will be right in the world. If things don't pan out that way? Well, Godspeed, guys. I'm rootin' for you.

Do you think an imbalance of power affects relationships?
