9/11 Event Prompts Big Surprise for Military Girlfriend

wedding dressTalk about one-stop shopping! While trying on wedding gowns at Belle Vogue Bridal in Kansas City on Friday afternoon, Ashley Hentges picked up a dress and an engagement ring! Ashley had been taking part of the "Gowns for Good" event meant to mark September 11th by offering free wedding dresses to military brides. She had brought her boyfriend, Army PFC Jesse Eacret, who was home on leave from his deployment in Iraq, and out of the blue, Eacret dropped to one knee and asked Ashley, "Will you marry me?"

Although she seemed totally blissed out by the proposal, it's pretty clear Ashley had been expecting it. (She was shopping for a wedding dress, after all!) But maybe not at that very moment! Jesse getting down on one knee at the bridal salon was certainly a surprise. And it seemed to make for some gorgeous photos and happy memories, as Ashley hugged her future mother-in-law and other relatives who had accompanied the couple shopping. Awww!

The Gowns for Good event Bella Vogue was throwing seems similar to the nonprofit Brides Across America, which offers military brides wedding gowns free of charge to help support the troops. I'm sure they were expecting a lot of happy brides-to-be in their store this past weekend, but who would have thought they'd have set the stage for such a sweet proposal?

Luckily, a local news crew caught the whole thing on camera.

Adorable! What a totally cute couple! I love that Ashley's so bubbly and outspoken, and Jesse's kinda shy. Aww! Major congrats to these two!

What do you think of this proposal?
