Gwyneth Paltrow Knows a Lot About Infidelity

gwyneth paltrowGwyneth Paltrow is one polarizing lady. You either love the Goopy actress or hate her, there's no in between. I fall on the "like" side ... she seems like a smart and talented woman. And if she's good enough for Coldplay's dreamy lead singer Chris Martin, then she's good enough for me. That's why her recent remarks about open marriages, cheating, and fidelity don't bother me -- in fact, I think she's on to something.

While promoting her movie Outbreak Contagion, she opened up about her thoughts on the big L-O-V-E, what it means to her, and what it might mean to others.

I am a great romantic -- but I also think you can be a romantic and a realist. Life is complicated and long and I know people that I respect and admire and look up to who have had extra-marital affairs. It’s like we’re flawed -- we’re human beings and sometimes you make choices that other people are going to judge. That’s their problem but I think that the more I live my life, the more I learn not to judge people for what they do. I think we’re all trying our best but life is complicated.

You go, Gwyn, you go. It's possibly the most laid-back thing she's said, and it's right on. It sounds like she knows a lot of people who've been through cheating and back, and that she's learned a lot from their missteps. She remains that she and husband Chris are still on solid ground, but it seems like if she were to run into any trouble in her marriage, she's got a level head on her shoulders when it comes to the reality of marital expectations.

Gwyneth and Chris are good friends with Jay-Z and Beyonce, so maybe that's a couple she's seen work through extramartial affairs (it's rumored Jay-Z is totally unfaithful to Bey, that he cheated on her with Rihanna) but who knows. The point is that Gwyneth is on target: life is complicated, marriages are hard, we have to try our best, and not judge others for what they do.

What do you think?
