If 90-Year-Old Can Find Love Online, So Can You

molly holder ed nisbettTen years ago, if you admitted you were looking for love on the Internet, you'd have to brace yourself to be laughed at. Now, no one's laughing, because everyone's signing online to find their soul mate. It's pretty much the best for anyone who's single -- gay or straight, college kids, divorcees, even seniors. Even 90-year-olds. I know, I'm sorry I have to be the one to break it to you, but yes, grandmothers are on Match.com.

But they can find true love again, too! There's no better example than a recent love story that played out online between two seniors in Florida, 90-year-old Molly Holder and her now husband, 82-year-old Ed Nisbett. (Yes, she is a cougar.) The two spied one another on Match.com in November, met in person for the first time in January, and were engaged by Valentine's Day. No, they didn't waste any time!

Both Holder and Nisbett had been widowed for years and discovered that they both love reading poetry and drinking scotch. After messaging for awhile online, they met up for their first date, and Holder was holding a yellow rose. Nisbett told ABC News, "The picture that she had on Match.com really didn't do her justice."

Almost needless to say, it sounds like it was love at first sight; it's no wonder neither had reservations when it came to walking down the aisle.

This story only goes to show that no matter who you are, how old you are, whether your drink of choice is scotch on the rocks or a lemon drop martini, there is someone out there for you. Meeting them online can be just as bashert (Yiddish for "meant to be") as if you met them in the grocery store, at a wedding, or in a bar. And it's so heartwarming to see two elderly people go online to find chemistry and friendship. Not everyone can say they've found true love period, let alone at 90. But thanks to the Internet, more people can.

Even more reason younger singles have no excuse not to try a dating site. If you can't take it from Molly and Ed, take it from me or from my friends who met their significant others, fiances, and husbands on Adam4Adam, PlentyofFish, and JDate: You can find love online.

What do you think of Molly and Ed's story? Are you a fan of online dating?
