NKOTB Jonathan Knight Is Gay: Is Your Heart Broken?

If you were between the ages of 7-17 in the early '90s, there's pretty much a 99 percent chance that you had a MEGA-crush on one of five young guys from Boston: Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood, Jordan Knight, or his bro, Jonathan Knight. I personally was a proud card carrying member of Team Jonathan. He just seemed ... sweet.

Fast-forward 20 years later, and it's no surprise why he seemed so nice: Jonathan Knight is gay.

Are you surprised? I wasn't.

Not only because, hello, we're talking about the member of a boy band. Listen, I hate to break it to you if you were also hopelessly in love with Lance Bass of N'Sync or Ricky Martin of solo and -- may I remind you -- Menudo fame. There is a pattern here!

But I wasn't shocked to hear that my first ever celeb crush is now out and proud, because, well, CONFESSION TIME: Up until I met my very straight (yet sensitive and artistic) boyfriend, I had a near perfect track record of falling for closeted guys. Oh yes, it's true. The adorable blondey who I used to sing oldies to and play on the swingset with during recess in first grade? Gay. My hilarious partner in high school theater and speech team crime? Gay. First guy I was attracted to in my dorm during my freshman year of college? Soooo gay. Every so often, I find out that another guy for whom my heart fluttered even briefly ... now also has a boyfriend of his own.

But, as an out and proud "fruit fly," I am here to say that there's absolutely nothing wrong with being a gal who is slow on the Gaydar uptake. It just means you have a thing for the sweet, sensitive guys who can sing, the charming guys who can make you laugh, the intuitive guys who wipe away your tears while you both enjoy an episode of The Golden Girls or a worn-out Immaculate Collection or Cher CD. Who could blame us?

So if you were also on Team Shy Jonathan as opposed to Team Macho Donnie or Team Buff Danny Wood, there's no need to mourn. After all, we're in good company. Turns out, Tiffany -- who in the late '80s could have probably been "Alone" with any guy -- chose sweetie pie Jonathan, too.
