Does Lamar Call the Shots Over Khloe Kardashian's Hair?

Khloe KardashianKhloe Kardashian started the New Year off by changing her hair color. And it was pretty dramatic, from brunette to red. And she really loved it. But a week or so later, she had changed it back. Why? Was it that her husband, LA Lakers forward Lamar Odom, didn't like it and wanted her to change it back?

No. It turns out that E! wanted Khloe to go back to her brunette roots so that her color was consistent with both her sisters' hair color and for the filming of Khloe & Lamar, her new reality show revolving around life with her husband. Her husband was actually encouraging her to go more crimson.

But Khloe's hair color change brings up the question: would you, or do you, change your appearance because of your partner’s desires? My knee jerk reaction to that question used to be, "Hell no!"

But now that I'm older and have been married for a while, I have to say that, yes, there are some physical things that I do that I know my husband likes. But honestly the lines have become blurred between what's for me and what's for him.

Because it turns out, most things that I do to my appearance that make me feel good about myself, and help me enjoy being in my skin, are the things that he finds attractive and sexy about me.

I shave my legs because I don't like hairy legs. Neither does my husband. I get a bikini wax because I don't like having hair sticking out from my underwear. He likes it too. And I color my hair because having half a head of gray hair at the age of 45 makes me feel older and, I think, look older. Agreed.

And it's a two-way street. He stays in (good) shape because it makes him feel good and he knows that I like the way his body looks and feels.

One thing we have a difference of opinion with? Hair length. My husband likes my hair short. But I’m trying something new and letting it grow out. And you know what, he deals with it. Besides, I tell him that there's more for him to pull in a moment of passion.

Do you change your appearance for your partner?
