Long-distance relationships suck. You can only express so much through emails and phone calls, so you have to get creative.

I've found myself in a few long-distance relationships before and came up with some pretty romantic ways to show that I cared, if I do say so myself.

Granted, this may be a little cheesy and might make some of you non-romantics want to hurl, but one of the things that I did was send a message in a bottle to my faraway sweetie.

You take a wine bottle and wash it out really well. Be sure to save the cork. Then write your heart out on a piece of paper. Even better if you can write in calligraphy. I used resume paper so that it was thicker and had a beige color to it.

Then, to make it look "old" as if it's been tossing in the ocean for months to get from one lover to the other, crumble it up into a ball, unwrap it, and then carefully burn the edges around the paper.

Roll it up, tie some string around it, pop it in the bottle, and cast it out to sea, er, to your mailman.

What are some ways you have kept the romance alive in long-distance relationships?
