Stay Away, I Look Like Frankenstein!

Yesterday morning, I woke up with a really bad allergic reaction to something (though I'm still unsure of what). You've seen the movie Hitch right? Remember when Will Smith's character was allergic to something that he ate? Yeah ... I was closely resembling that.

The right side of my face was blown up and my right eyelid was so swollen, I could barely open it. Needless to say, the only time I ventured outside of my apartment was to go to the doctor's.

After telling the guy that I'm dating that I had to cancel plans because of my newfound ability to scare little children, he offered to come over and bring me some dinner. Sweet, huh?

"NO WAY!" I quickly responded. We've been dating for about a month now, but I'm still in the can't-see-me-without-makeup phase. There's no way I was going to let him see me like this.

"Sweetie, I don't care what you look like, I just want to make sure you're okay."

Melt my heart? Yes. But I still wasn't going to let him catch a glimpse of Frankenstein. I was perfectly content with sitting at home, eating my bowl of cereal, and watching Modern Family (great episode last night, by the way).

I'm not sure what it takes to get to the point of letting your SO see you in your most vulnerable state. I feel that's one of the things that you have to ease into ... maybe sniffling on the couch, tissues surrounding you. Then you progress to the running-to-the-bathroom-to-puke stage. Then the face-blown-up stage.

When was the first time that your SO saw you in a vulnerable state? Was it easy for you to handle or were you self-conscious the entire time?
