Reading Erotica Is the Hottest Thing Right Now

erotic literatureI've always loved erotic stories. Well, since I've been an adult of course. Unless you count that time my middle school friends and I were reading the sexy stories in both Playboy and Playgirl. We found them in a closet.

And ... when I grew up, I became the Editor-in-Chief of Playgirl magazine. This is true. It was my life before cupcakes and CafeMom. Erotica overload. But it was great, kinky fun. Hard work, too, of course.

My porn past open doors for me to write short stories for some of the top erotica publishers and editors around. I've written for and with Alison Tyler, Rachel Kramer Bussel, and even Jonathan Ames.

Sex and Candy, Heat Wave, Best Bondage Erotica, Naughty Stories from A to Z Vol. 3 and Vol. 4, and Naughty Spanking Stories From A to Z Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 were just some of the titles that my torrid tales were featured in. And I wrote a book for couples called Hot Sexplay for Your Weekend Away.

For me, writing and reading sexy stories is an aphrodisiac. It's like a super caffeinated drink to the sex part of your brain without the coffee breath. And, also true, shortly after all my research and writing Sexplay, I got pregnant ... with twins.

I need to write more. Post-parenthood sexy stuff.

And according to Lemondrop, erotic literature is saving the publishing industry, one smutty title at a time. This makes me oooh so satisfied.

Sales are up and it's not just 40 something women buying it. It's men, gay and straight, and lots of young women.

You can go online for porn, yes, but I think there's nothing hotter than an erotic book. The words allow you to tailor your fantasy -- you read the words and your mind pictures images that turn you on the most. And then those words and thoughts and images seep into your brain, making you a bit more frisky, you'll feel more sensual, more ... excitable.

And for me, I wouldn't, couldn't, read erotica on an iPad or Kindle or whatever e-book that's out there. I want to hear the sound of the page turning, feel of the paper between my fingers with the anticipation of what's coming (or who's coming) on the next page. It's all part of the experience. The beautifully sexy experience that it is.
