Try Online Dating to Find Your Husband

I'm not sure if I should cry or jump for joy at the news that 1 in 6 marriages are of folks who met online.

A recent study by has put online dating as the third best way to meet your future spouse, lagging only behind work and school. As it soared upward, it surpassed bars, social events, church, etc. Practically the only places where I meet men. Crap.

But this also means that instead of getting dolled up for a Friday night out, I can snuggle up in front of my computer, sans makeup, and "meet" someone with a high potential of being my future husband. That doesn't sound so bad.

If you think about it, it makes sense why online dating is so successful. Just by looking at someone's profile, you can see what they look for in a partner, whether they have/want kids, what they enjoy doing, etc. That's like skipping to, what, date three?

But on the other hand, I'm not sure if I could give up the social aspect of meeting men -- the thrill of locking eyes with a sexy guy from across the room, feeling my heart pound as he walks toward me, gushing with my girlfriends after I give him my number. That's the best part about being single. What am I going to gossip about from online correspondence? "Oh my gosh Marie, you know that really attractive guy that I messaged last week? He winked at me!"

Hmm ... yeah, not as much fun.

For those of you who have tried online dating, which do you prefer? Online or old-school?
