Oldest Veteran, 107, to Celebrate Memorial Day With Cigars & Whiskey (VIDEO)

As we make our barbecue and picnic plans, and relish in the extra day off from work this Memorial Day weekend, it's important that we don't forget the real reason for the holiday -- our veterans. Veterans like Richard Arvine Overton, who at 107 years of age, is thought to be America's oldest living veteran.

In an interview with KVUE, the World War II vet talks about his service in the South Pacific from 1942 through 1945. He arrived at Pearl Harbor just weeks after it was bombed. "But I came back, and I didn't get a scratch on me," he told the station. "But don't think I didn't get shot at because they're a bunch of soldiers over there."

Merde! What the heck is going on in Paris, France today? I thought this was the City of Love. Well, not today it isn't.

Tens of thousands of anti-gay protesters -- reports show numbers as high as 150,000 and 200,000 -- came out today to stand up against the new gay marriage law. Marchers of men, women and children set off from three separate points and by early evening they filled the streets of Paris. Of course, worries of violence sent out 5,000 police to try to keep things calm.

Gosh, and I thought the Europeans were so much more "evolved" than us.

Teen Arrested for Columbine-Like Plot Had 6 Bombs Hidden in His Bedroom

A 17-year-old Oregon teen was arrested after police found at least six bombs he was planning to use in a Columbine-style attack at his school -- West Albany High school. Grant Alan Accord will be tried as an adult with two counts each of possession of and manufacture of a destructive device.

Beyond the methodical and heinous nature of this kid's planning and thinking, I can't get over the fact that he was making and hiding BOMBS IN HIS BEDROOM. And we're not talking little bitty science project explosives. The police say they found pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails, and a napalm bomb hidden in a secret compartment beneath the floorboards of his room at his mom's house.

Star Quarterback Dies Weeks Before High School Graduation

Really sad news out of North Carolina today. The body of the Southwest Onslow High School star quarterback Shak Pershey, 19, was found off North Topsail Beach. His young life was clipped short. Right at the start of high school graduation season, when parents and students, should be celebrating the transition from high school to bigger and better things, this promising young man's family and friends are faced with tragedy. It's almost too much to bear.

A suicidal man killed himself by jumping off the 11th floor of an apartment building -- and tragically he landed on a 5-year-old girl who was walking with her parents. The incident happened in Seoul, South Korea, a country that reportedly has one of the highest rates of suicide. The man did not leave a note though he was being treated for depression. The little girl just happened to be directly below him when he took his plunge.

In an inspiring tribute and an act of perserverance and ultimate triumph, about 3,000 runners and bombing victims got together and ran the final mile of the Boston Marathon today. The traditionally hopeful final mile was robbed from runners and spectators on April 15 when two suspects decided to turn the event into a horrifying massacre. But today, they took it back.

Like the kind of love that makes you appreciate love, even if they’re not in love yourself. This is one of those stories. 25-year-old Dale Monteith suffers from chronic myeloid leukemia, an aggressive cancer that attacks the blood. He went undiagnosed for five years and by the time he finally started getting treatment, the cancer had morphed into a force stronger than every attempt at medication, radiation, even five chemotherapies. Through all of the trial-and-errors and disappointments, his girlfriend, Jewell, was there to support him.

But there have been so many UFO sightings over the years, often backed up by photos or video, that it's easy to think they must be out there somewhere. And indeed more photographic evidence has just presented itself. A woman taking a picture of a historic -- and haunted! -- barn in Santee, California just happened to capture what appears to be a mother ship from the planet Zor.

A Georgia couple came home one night last week to find their home burglarized. Horrible enough, but the Hugheys were devastated to find the thieves had made off with more than just a few pieces of jewelry. Also missing: a silver box containing the ashes of their baby boy, Caleb Ean Hughey, whom they lost at birth in 2008.
