Hold the presses! This conservative Republican chick agrees with John Kerry about something. While addressing a group of students in Berlin, the Secretary of State said that in America, “you have a right to be stupid if you want to be.”

That’s completely true. In the land of the free and the home of the brave, we protect people’s right to say the dumbest stuff ever. Thank goodness for our politicians, because sometimes they really should think before they speak.

In honor of John Kerry, here’s a list of some dumb things that our elected officials have said recently:

Jennifer McKenna Morbelli was a 29-year-old, married, expecting mom. She and her husband were excited about their baby girl, who they were going to name Madison Leigh. They'd set up a gift registry. And then, Jennifer got some disappointing news: It appears Madison had some abnormalities. Jennifer and her husband, TJ, made the difficult decision to abort at 33 weeks.

What happened next has ignited the fury of anti-abortion activists: Jennifer died following her abortion. A young mother and her baby are gone. But only a heartless ideologue could get up the next day and protest an abortion clinic after her death. Jennifer's decision to abort was an act of compassion. Even if you don't understand it, you need to respect it. And her death doesn't mean we should ban late-term abortions. It means we need to make them safer and more accessible.

Justin Bieber’s mom wants one thing made clear: She does not have a political opinion on the abortion issue. Pattie Mallette settles the controversial “Bieber’s Mom Debate” by stating “I haven’t shared my stance with anyone and I’m not here to make a political statement, so there’s been a lot of assumptions made.”

Critics have been hurling accusations at the superstar’s mom over her recent involvement in Crescendo, a new film that she hopes will raise 10 million dollars for a shelter for pregnant teens. She herself stayed in such a place when she got pregnant with Justin as a teenager and was subsequently kicked out of her house.

It’s always so touching when a TV news personality opens up on the air about how the decision to end the life of his unborn child “saved” him. No really -- that actually happened.

Last Friday, MSNBC host Toure celebrated the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade by sharing the story of when he and an old girlfriend decided 15 years ago to abort their baby, because it was, like, totally inconvenient.

And now, a gift from the Land of Enchantment! New Mexico pro-life state Representative Cathrynn Brown introduced an abortion bill that would make abortion following a rape a third-degree felony because it would be "tampering with evidence."

Squee, another insanely harsh abortion law that punishes women for gettin' themselves raped? Is it my birthday? Ladies, your uterus is an evidence incubator for the State of New Mexico! Fortunately this rapey bill will most likely be aborted, I mean won't be passed, because Democrats hold a majority in both houses, so --

Wait, this just in: Ms. Brown would like to clarify some misunderstandings about the bill.

Justin Bieber is a pro-life poster child -- whether he likes it or not.

Justin Bieber's mom, Pattie Mallette, has revealed that when she got pregnant with the Biebs at the age of 17, she was encouraged and pressured by others to get an abortion.

Obviously, Pattie chose to keep the future superstar. Now she's taking her anti-abortion stance to the big screen. And word is, Justin might not be entirely supportive.

Mississippi’s last remaining abortion clinic is in danger of being shut down. Thanks to a law passed last spring, doctors are now required to have admitting privileges to a nearby hospital in order to perform abortions. Currently, only one of the three doctors working at Jackson Women’s Health Organization has such privileges.

The state health department granted the clinic six months to become compliant with the law. The deadline is January 11, 2013, and it looks like there’s no chance they’ll be successful. All seven nearby hospitals have denied admitting privileges to the other two doctors, who live out-of-state, according to a New York Times article published last July.

I've always held to the thought that pro-choice does not mean pro-abortion, no matter what the anti-choice crowd will tell you. It means giving women the power to make their own choices -- be it abortion or continuing on with a pregnancy. And never has a case so well illustrated that point than that of the woman who went into the operating room expecting to have a hysterectomy and ended up with an abortion she never wanted.

That Suzanne Doherty was already the mother of three girls doesn't change anything. She was never told that she doctors had discovered she was 14 weeks pregnant, at least not until it was too late. Doctors had already performed an abortion, along with the hysterectomy she'd requested.

The devoutly Roman Catholic founder of Domino’s Pizza is suing the federal government over the mandatory contraception coverage in Obamacare. Tom Monaghan says that the health care law violates his rights to practice his religion, which does not allow the use of hormonal birth control.

Once intricately involved in day-to-day operations, Monaghan sold Domino’s for $1 billion in 1998, and has devoted much of his time and money since to Catholic causes. He has said, “I want to die broke.”

Currently, Domino's Pizza offers a health care plan to its eligible employees that excludes contraceptives and abortions. That isn't to say that they don't hire women that choose to use it or that have had abortions -- that would be discrimination. The company is simply not willing to pay for other people’s lifestyle choices.

A federal judge in North Carolina has banned pro-life license plates as unconstitutional unless the state also offers a pro-choice option. U.S. District Court Judge James Fox ruled on Friday that the “Choose Life” plates violate the First Amendment.

Yes, that is the one having to do with free speech. Oh the irony.

In news that will shock no one, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of North Carolina Legal Foundation filed the lawsuit on behalf of North Carolinians seeking a specialty license plate for the pro-choice crowd. Apparently, amendments were introduced to the legislature and rejected six times to authorize a new plate that would read “Trust Women. Respect Choice,” or “Respect Choice.”
