You'd think a judge would know how to behave properly in the courtroom -- especially one famous for being a judge. Apparently not. Judge Joe Brown was arrested and sentenced to five days in jail on March 24 for a "shocking outburst in a Memphis, Tenn., juvenile court."
Then again, after 15 years of dramatic cases on his reality court show, perhaps Judge Brown forgot what is considered appropriate courtroom behavior.
The 66-year-old reportedly "incited a near riot" when he showed up to represent a client in a child custody case, only to be told there was no record of the case. After being asked to leave, witnesses say he became angry and verbally abusive and that he was "playing to the peanut gallery."
The judge is running for D.A. of Shelby County, where he used to preside, so maybe the pressure started getting to him? Whatever the reason for his outburst, it's likely not good news for his campaign.
The TV show Judge Joe Brown ran from 1998 to 2013 when it was cancelled.
Do you think Judge Joe deserves a five-day jail sentence for his outburst?
