82-Year-Old Hammer-Wielding Grandpa Leaves Robber Begging for His Life

Nicole Fabian-Weber Hero

george bradfordWhile most grandpas are enjoying their days golfing or playing canasta, George Bradford is fighting crime. Literally. The 82-year-old grandfather from Detroit fought off a would-be home invader with a hammer. That's right, Grandpa hit a potential robber in the head with a hammer in order to protect his home; his elderly mother(!); his daughter; and his granddaughter, all of whom live with him.

I don't use this word lightly, but it has to be said: Pops is a bada**!

After the intruder broke into his home, Bradford asked him to leave. But when he didn't, Bradford surprised him with a blow to the head with the hammer. The man didn't fall, but he wobbled quite a bit and asked not to be killed. The alleged robber, a 33-year-old man, was treated as soon as police arrived on the scene and immediately arrested thereafter. "I was just glad that he did it because me and everyone else in the house was safe," 12-year-old granddaughter Shelby Bradford said. Trina Bradford, George's daughter, said, "I have a good dad. A very good dad."

After his display of heroism, I highly doubt that George Bradford's home will be broken into again in the near future. But if for some reason it is, he's ready. He told reporters, "I don't want to kill anybody. But ... if I have to, that's what I'll do."

Don't mess with Grandpa, people.
