A husband and wife from South Carolina have been charged with the murder of a young woman who mysteriously vanished in December after being dropped off at her home after a date. In addition to murder charges, Sidney and Tammy Moorer face kidnapping, indecent exposure, and obstruction of justice charges related to the disappearance of 20-year-old Heather Elvis, who was a cosmetology student from Myrtle Beach. Despite the arrest, Heather's poor family is unlikely to get closure on this yet -- her body has yet to be located.
Heather was last spotted being dropped off at her apartment by a date on December 17. Since then, her family has been going through pure hell. Never mind the fact that they spent the holidays hoping and praying their daughter would turn up, but during the search for Elvis, the skeletal remains of another girl, which may belong to a 17-year-old named Brittanee Drexel who went missing in 2009, were found instead. It sounds like a few months of confusion, sadness, and torture.

Evidence found at the Moorers' house links them to the murder of Heather, according to investigators, but additional details about what they uncovered have not been revealed. Cops also said there's a possibility that Heather and 38-year-old Sidney were romantically involved. The young woman's car was found abandoned at Peachtree Boat Landing, and cops believe she was likely murdered there and then taken to another site.
No one is yet sure of the couple's motive or the actual nature of Heather's relationship with Sidney or Tammy. With hope, police will recover her remains shortly so that her family can begin the healing process.
