What This Man Was Doing to His Cats Will Make You Lose Your Lunch

Rebecca Stokes Ewww!

black catIf you thought animals had it easier than humans, this story might have you thinking again. A man in Italy was just arrested for adopting more than 15 cats. So far just another tale of animal hoarding, right? Wrong. The man, known only as Francesco F., was adopting said cats so that he could kill them, cook them, and serve them to friends. I am so glad to be talking about this on an empty stomach.

Luckily, Frankie won't be doing this again any time soon. He was procuring his fur-covered meals from local animal rescue shelters -- which is truly heart-breaking news. The cats in shelters have already been through so much -- do they really need to cross paths with a guy so depraved? Answer: Absolutely not. Eventually, a shelter became suspicious and sprung a surprise visit on the guy. What they found had him in cuffs in minutes.

The guy was literally getting ready to kill the next cat for his latest feast! Unbelievable. The shelter in question had been trying to set up meetings to see how the cats were being cared for ever since they picked up on his frequent visits to pick out new pets. Because his requests for 'plump, black cats' were so specific they worried he was conducting some sort of Satanic ritual. Ohhhhh, Italy. Way to be on your A-game where the worship of Satan is concerned.

Thankfully he won't be able to do it anymore. Here's hoping he gets some serious jail-time. Unfortunately, as is typically the case, it won't be nearly enough time, and as an animal-lover, that breaks my heart. It's easy to try and blame the shelters in cases like these -- they should have more rigorous background checks, folks might say. But remember, in this case, it was the shelter who picked up on what was going on and put an end to the senseless (and totally disgusting) crime this man was committing. They don't say what happened to the live cats still in the man's apartment, but here's hoping they find the forever-homes they deserve with people who wouldn't look at them as their next snack.

Why do you think this guy was so obsessed with cats as snack food? Do you think his friends knew they were being served cat? I shudder to think.
