Well, if you didn't see this one coming a mile away, you've probably been living under a rock for the past few years. Michelle Obama is staying at Oprah Winfrey's Maui estate to celebrate her 50th birthday -- and let's just say Oprah's island neighbors are less than thrilled about her being there.
According to TMZ, the First Lady's presence is pretty much making life a living hell for anyone who lives or works in the general vicinity of the property.
Since there are road closures, people can't get to work on time. And deliveries aren't making it to local businesses, so they can't stock their shelves. Oh, and did I mention that there are security checkpoints on the roads -- and that recreational areas have been closed?
Yep. All because Michelle apparently needed a little extra rest and relaxation on her birthday ... which God forbid she should be forced to spend at the White House with her family. (As if.)
I'm sorry, but I don't blame residents and business owners in Hawaii one bit for being annoyed about all of the hoopla surrounding Michelle's visit. These people have lives ... like real lives where they have to go to work, shuttle kids to and from school, and engage in whatever other activities regular people do on a day to day basis.
Oh come on, don't even try and tell me you wouldn't be a little ticked off too if Michelle turned up in your neighborhood and caused all sorts of disruption. You know how we get totally annoyed when we want to watch our favorite TV show and the President is on every stinkin' channel? Yeah, somehow I'm guessing having to deal with the First Lady being in town is a bit like that, but 100 times worse.
Man. What a drag. I always thought people who have the privilege of calling Hawaii home were truly livin' the dream. But I guess that excludes anyone who happens to reside anywhere close to Oprah's digs.
Do you think Oprah's neighbors have a right to be upset about Michelle staying at her home?
