I guess we can call this poetic justice. A pedophile who thought he was being slick by avoiding the Internet, instead opting to snail-mail his abuse images and depraved fantasies to fellow sickos, has been caught because the mail accidentally went to the wrong house. Yep, a neighbor was the lucky person who opened up the horrifying, highly illegal mail of John Baker. And although no one wants to ever see anything like that, it's a good thing. Because Baker's now been arrested.
After the neighbor alerted the authorities about the mail, police raided Baker's home and found hundreds of indecent images of children on computer hard drives and USB memory sticks. Officers also discovered that police had been notified of two other letters in 2011, which never mentioned Baker by name, but instead included his home phone number. Detective Sgt. Haley Stanesby said: "A dangerous sex offender has been identified and put behind bars and he will also be subject to all the constraints and checks upon his release under the sex offenders register." Baker pleaded guilty to 12 counts of making, possessing, and distributing indecent images of children, and has been jailed for two years.
As upsetting and traumatizing as it had to have been for an innocent person to open up the images and writings Baker sent, thank goodness this was the case. This clearly happened for a reason. Baker thought he was outsmarting the system by mailing these horrific images the old-fashioned way, but apparently a bigger system outsmarted him. Good riddance.
What do you think of this? Do you think this was divine intervention?
