If you hate shopping, you might just want to say no next time your significant other insists you accompany her or him on their next marathon shopping spree. Because too much shopping might send you over the edge -- literally. A man in China reportedly jumped to his death off a shopping mall balcony after a five-hour shopathon that his girlfriend refused to end.
According to the Daily Mail, the couple began arguing when the man, 38-year-old Tao Hsiao, began pressing his girlfriend to let them go home. He reportedly protested that they already had more bags than they could carry.
But just then his girlfriend spotted a shoe sale and wanted to head in for a little shoe therapy. He argued that she already "had more shoes than she could wear in a lifetime." She accused him of being cheap.
That's when Hsiao apparently lost his will to live and dove over the seven-story railing to his death. But not before hurtling the Christmas bags to their doom below as well.
This all sounds like some bizarre SNL skit, but apparently it really happened. A mall spokesman reportedly said:
This is a tragic incident, but this time of year can be very stressful for many people.
My guess is that there was more going on here than endless shopping. This poor man sounds like he had other issues.

But really, it's okay to tell your spouse you do NOT want to accompany him or her on a shopping trip. Or to leave. Take some bags, go home.
