As we speak, Kate Middleton is going to be treated to something all new moms look forward to -- a date night to the movies with her husband, Prince William! Yup, lil' Prince George is being left with babysitters and his nanny as the royal couple enjoys a rare night out on the town together. Except this won't be your run-of-the-mill, "dinner and a movie" outing. Nope, it's actually -- yep, you guessed it -- for charity!
The Duke and Duchess will be the guests of honor at the Leicester Square UK premiere of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, this year's Royal Film Performance. Proceeds from the Royal Film night go to the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund, which supports industry employees in times of hardship. (Cheers to that!) And this year's film is also set to raise money for the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, which aims to create a better future for children in South Africa. Wonderful.
But ... do you think they ever miss just going out and catching a flick without all the pomp and circumstance and philanthropy attached? I suppose it's possible, but then again, maybe this kind of "date night" is actually even more romantic for them.
After all, philanthropy is a passion they share, and doing whatever it is you love apart from one another and/or your children can be extremely satisfying not just personally, but for your relationship. It can remind you that you're more than just husband and wife or Mom and Dad; you're a team with shared interests and goals. That, in turn, does real wonders for your bond.
At the same time, I do hope the royal couple gets the occasional time away from scheduled events to just be with one another and enjoy one another's company. Royal or not, one-on-one time is inarguably key to keeping the romance alive!
What interests and goals do you share with your partner? Do you agree that's something that will bolster Kate and Wills' bond?
