Policeman Arrested for Despicable Crime Was Only Fulfilling Victim's Wish

Twisted 16

A police officer in Germany has been arrested for the suspected cannibalistic killing of a man he met online in a chat room dedicated to "exotic meat." The pair apparently exchanged fantasies of the victim being killed and eaten by email and text message and then met up for the first (and last) time in the German town of Hannover. The victim reportedly had fantasized about being killed and eaten for years -- and he finally met a man who was more than willing to help him out.

The plot was discovered after the victim's business partner reported him missing and an electronic trail led police to the suspect, who is a handwriting and document analysis expert with the police force.

When the two met, the unnnamed officer reportedly stabbed the victim in the throat and then chopped him up into little pieces and spread him all over his property. The prosecutor said about the suspect: "He said that his victim wanted to be killed and he fulfilled his wish."

He claims he did not eat any parts of the victim -- which seems rather unfair, considering the whole reason the guy wanted to be killed was so he could be eaten.

The case is reminiscent of another cannibal case in Germany that happened a decade ago, that of Armin Meiwes, who killed and ate a man he met online who also had the same fantasy. The two exchanged dozens of gory emails about their depraved plan.

Last year, New York City police officer Gilberto Valle was found guilty of plotting to kill, cook, and eat 100 women. His plot was foiled by his wife, who found his twisted online plans.

Should someone be punished when the murder is consensual? I'd have to say yes. Someone who wishes to be chopped up and eaten is severly mentally disturbed and needs help -- and not the kind of help that this German police officer allegedly gave him. You can't go around fulfilling people's depraved wishes in a civilized society. Meiwes was sentenced to life in prison, and if this man is found guilty, he deserves the same.

Do you think the punishment should be the same if a victim asked for the crime?

Yes, the punishment should be the same.  The murderer murdered someone--just because that omeone was mentally ill or emotionally disturbed does mean it was okay or less of a crime.

Mentally ill people can get fixated on very strange ideas or wishes--their brains do not function properly and their thoughts are not rational.  They need help, not someone to come murder them.

Punishment should be the same. Killing is killing.

Assisted suicide should be a much lesser crime than murder IMHO.  Still a crime though.

This man didn't necessarily have a mental illness. Some people have messed up fantasies. Some people enjoy having human feces spread on them. So perhaps that's what this guy wanted.
