Forrest WayneA Houston fitness instructor wanted for repeatedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl was recently busted in Thailand, thanks to a quick-thinking cashier. Forrest Wayne, 44, was shopping in a health food store a long way from home when the clerk noticed something was "off" about him. Suspicious of the man, the clerk searched his name on the Internet after he gave his information and, lo and behold, turned out that the clerk's instinct was right. Wayne was wanted in the United States for an alleged illicit relationship he carried out with a young girl he met at the gym he worked at. Busted.
After realizing who Wayne was, the clerk contacted authorities, and he was arrested over the weekend. He'll be extradited back to Houston to face charges at some point hopefully in the very near future.
The odds of Wayne ever being caught were fairly slim. I mean, he'd gotten out of the country. In fact, if he was out shopping at a health food store, I'm betting he thought he was home free. Thank goodness the store clerk followed their intuition. This man could have actually gotten away with this alleged crime. Details are scant on what exactly Wayne was doing that seemed suspicious, but sometimes something just doesn't feel right, you know? So often we shrug these circumstances off because they don't directly affect us, but we shouldn't. This dirtbag could have gone a free man for sexually assaulting a young girl.
Now that he's been caught, things aren't looking good for Wayne. The girl he was assaulting is reportedly working with police and has given details on everything that went on. If I were a betting woman, I'd say he's going to be locked up for a long, long time.
And it's all thanks to a cashier who didn't like the looks of things. Imagine they never bothered to search his name?
Have you ever trusted your gut when something seemed off?
