A man in Florida has been arrested after he reportedly beat his daughter to the beat of "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke. Steven Fillingim, 40, is facing three counts of child abuse for repeatedly hitting a girl who's believed to be his daughter on the thighs and in the face, videotaping the abuse, and then sending it to his girlfriend, who subsequently showed the video to police.
And that's not even the worst of it.
According to reports, Fillingim got angry at the girl for failing to vacuum bugs off of the carpet and for skipping school. He allegedly hit her in the face with a belt; had her stand with a 20-pound weight in one hand in front of her, and an 8-pound weight in the other behind her; shovel dirt an hour and a half at midnight; and beat her thighs with a switch for 40 minutes, again, to the beat of "Blurred Lines."
Every single aspect of this is completely sick, but his alleged beating of this girl to the beat of a pop song is stomach-turning. This was basically a joke to him. And the fact that he sent a video of this to his girlfriend, who then showed it to authorities, shows how truly out of touch he really is.
After the incident, Gillingim was placed in jail, but then released on $15,000 bail. His hearing is set for October 4, and let's hope that video doesn't accidentally get erased, because this man needs to be in jail for a long time.
