Royal Palace Break-In Nearly Puts Royal Family In Danger

OMG 2

guardsBuckingham Palace is supposed to be one of the most heavily guarded places on earth. Those guards are legendary, after all. They stand there so stoically, never moving a muscle even as tourists try to distract them. So how in the world were two men able to break into that fortress?

Police say that two men were arrested for a suspected break-in at the home of the Queen of England. They reportedly scaled a 12-foot fence and kicked in a door. According to The Telegraph, the men evaded three levels of security. Talk about a royal breach of security!

One man was found inside the 775 room estate and was arrested on suspicion of burglary, trespassing, and criminal damage. The other was nabbed wandering the grounds and arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary.

Now there will be an investigation into just what went wrong. Had the men not been caught, it could have been a more frightening situation. Fortunately too, members of the royal family were not home during the incident. Still, the situation is especially scary for the clan now that baby prince George has arrived. Though William and Kate do not live there, they do visit. Lapses in security put them all in danger. No doubt someone will get a serious reprimand at the very least or perhaps even lose their job over this one.

Can you believe someone was able to sneak by palace security?

It's not the first time it's happened and it won't be the last. One guy broke in in the 70s and wandered in to the queens bedroom. If I recall correctly he said he wanted a cigarette so she called a staff member in and asked him to go fetch an ashtray. Of course he came back with police instead.

It's a private home, security is very expensive, and it's not like there's any real motive to kill her so it's not nearly as secure as say the White House.

The Queen doesn't smoke so when she called staff ro bring a ashtray they knew something was wrong.
