A mother sunbathing at a San Francisco park with her 8-month-old baby and dog was run over by a park vehicle on Thursday. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her baby and dog are fine, thank god. But making this horrifying story all the worse is the fact that the sick person who was driving drove away after hitting the woman.
Ugh. Who would run over and kill an innocent mother, and then speed off, leaving her infant all alone?
The man, whose identity hasn't been released, was apparently found shortly after fleeing the scene and was detained and questioned. He reportedly has worked for the parks division since 2006. David Campos, a supervisor for the police department, said: "The idea that you can go into a park with your baby and be run over is impossible to imagine. Something went wrong here. We can't have anything like this happen again."
It literally turns my stomach to think that a new mom who simply was relaxing with her child at a park -- not doing anything wrong and away from anything that should be harmful -- was killed, and that the driver actually drove away without trying to help. Maybe he could have changed the outcome of this awful situation? Maybe he could have gotten help there sooner and saved this woman's life?
It truly is so unfair that this had to happen. This woman was doing nothing wrong, and this should have never come to be. Now a child is going to go their entire life with the only memories of their mother being photos. Thoughts and prayers to the family.
What do you think of this?
