Missing Toddler Elaina Steinfurth's Fate May Be Explained by Horrifying Confession

missing girl Elaina SteinfurthHow much stock do you put in jailhouse confessions? If you're a believer, then things are not looking good for missing toddler Elaina Steinfurth. A grand jury today added a charge of obstructing justice to the already pending charge of endangering the welfare of a child against her mom, Angela Mories Steinfurth.

And that's not the worst of it. Elaina's mom's fellow inmate at Lucas County Jail says the mother of two had a tragic tale to tell in prison.

A woman named Connie Elam claims Mories told her that little Elaina was thrown against a wall on the day she went missing. That would be consistent with the injuries a neighbor reported the little girl had, and explain why the mom is being charged with child endangerment for not seeking treatment for the 18-month-old's injuries.

But Elam's other claim is even more serious. The inmate says the little girl died and was thrown into the Maumee River by Mories and boyfriend Steven King.

The allegations are serious and seriously disturbing.

So how do we take them?

With a grain of salt, of course. There's no word on what Elam is charged with, but if she's in prison, who knows what her angle is ... or what kind of witness she can really be.

But consider this: Mories' stepfather, Richard Schiewe, told the press he believes his granddaughter is dead. Specifically, Schiewe said nearly two weeks ago that he believes Elaina's body will be found ... in the river.

Can that be coincidence?

Especially considering Elaina has been missing since June 2, and no one knows where the little girl is? At least not the police?

Do you believe jailhouse confessions can be real? Or are you always skeptical?

I think the inmate has no reason to lie, what's in it for them to share that info willingly?  Nothing. No body likes a baby killer and I think the inmate whats to bring jutice for that little girl.

A jailhouse confession was what broke the Manson murder case wide open.  The LAPD and the LASO were incompetent to the extreme in that case, but Susan Atkins ran her mouth off and that's how they were able to get the case to trial.  I wouldn't underestimate a confession like that.

Absolutely believe it plus the mom's probably in jail not prison big difference. Jail's house inmates awaiting trial and those serving less than a year, so chances are this inmate is in for some petty crime

Connie Elam is in jail awaiting trial on child pornography charges...not a petty crime in my book. These charges stem from pornography on her biological child. She isn't winning mother or inmate of the year awards. Prayers for a safe recovery of Elaina.

Sounds reasonable. Most liars wouldn't think of an "accident" like this. It would be smothering, staffing, poisoning, something grander.

I understand jailhouse confessions can be motivated by the "teller" b/c there's something in it for him/her. Two things in this case: 1) Angela is JA-like & likes to TALK like her; and 2) these are TOO MANY coincidences. I believe the truth is this or something similar.

This is breaking my heart, I live very close to where this took place.  I can't even imagine what that baby girl went through.  It's crazy too me that people can do this, I'd do ANYTHING to protect my baby. It's unbelievable that the only who are supposed to protect and love their children are the ones that hurts them...ugh...just so heartbreaking.  crying

I live in toledo and if it is true we are all so sad all we want is for her to be home safe we have been looking everyday.

That poor little baby... If you are a new mom, and feel incapable of taking care of an infant/baby, let her go!!  give her/him up for adoption!  That little girl was just starting her little life.  She could have been adopted by wonderful people who would have worshipped her!
