Man Catches Kids Vandalizing Home, Then Gets Accused of Something REALLY Out of Line

OMG 56

lockIf you only heard half of the story, you'd totally side with Jesse Daniels. See, Daniels happened to catch a bunch of kids allegedly vandalizing the house he's been renovating. Like, really vandalizing. According to Daniels, he found four boys between the ages of 8 and 10 taking a hammer to the home. "One person was sitting on the floor and the other ones were swinging, just swinging crazy," Daniels said. But when you hear the boys' version of what happened, things change. Instead of simply calling the police to report the boys' obnoxious behavior, Daniels allegedly locked them in a closet until the cops got there. And that was after he did something really awful.

According to the boys and their parents, Daniels grabbed the hammer, grabbed one of the kids by the throat, and threatened him. "I understand they were in the wrong but there are other ways to handle it," said one father. "He knew who the kids were; it's not like they were strangers. Send the kids home and call the cops then. You don't sit there and torment them and tell them you're going to bash their skulls in with a hammer."

Uh, amen to that. It isn't easy to side with kids who are bashing in a home with a hammer, but what Daniels allegedly did makes it possible. I can imagine he was beyond frustrated and mad to discover what the boys were doing -- as anyone would be -- but there's a way to deal with things. And that way doesn't involve grabbing kids' throats and locking them in a closet. Did these kids deserve to get in trouble? Absolutely. But they didn't deserve to fear for their life, which is probably what they were doing if what they're saying about Daniels is true.

If Daniels would have handled the situation less aggressively -- IE, if he would have called the cops and that's it -- he would have gotten exactly what he wanted: Punishment for these kids. But since his anger took over, he now may be facing charges, as well. (Charges that could potentially land him in jail for a year.) I doubt that's what he was after when he discovered what was being done to his house. But if this proves to be true, this is exactly what he deserves. Two wrongs don't make a right. As an adult, he should know that better than anyone.

What do you think of this?

Whiel I agree he should have never laid his hands on those kids, they deserved to have fear put in them. I am so sick and tired of parents making excuses for their kids. Kids are getting worse and worse. Kids now a days ahave no respect. Nothing is going to happen to those kids.

Hmm I think he handled it fine. He didnt actually hurt them right? Those little shits need a beating. Seriously money does not just fall off of trees and no doubt the little idiots will get away with it. If it was my kids doing it I wouldnt blame the guy. Now that being said my kids wont be getting away with doing bad things without consiquences to there actions. I see so many little out of control kids whose parents let them get away with everything!!. The other day a kid was walking around with a 2 litre of pepsi and a aluminum bat swinging next to cars while his mom watches him!

Those four kids did 40K in damage.  Of course, they are going to claim that he manhandled them and their parents will support them.  He put them in a closet to wait for the police.   I think that is fine.

Look.. according to the gun rights group, he would have been within his rights to SHOOT and KILL them,  instead he put them in a closet.

I bet those kids will never destroy someone else's property again! I hope he sues their parents for all the damages they did.

and the kids go Scott free!!!

Yeah, since they're minors, I doubt they would have gotten in much trouble anyway.

@LittleFrog- you are right.  They lucky they got away with being stuck in a closet.  I do hope the man did not choke a child because he will be the one in jail.  We have to look at this from a homeowner's point of view.  That kind of damage and with the children being so young who was going to pay?  Not the parents who claim their little darlings couldn't have done it or boys will be boys.  I don't condone violence against children but there are two sides to this.

i cant say i wouldnt be livid if someone laid a finger on my kid, but i certainly see why he did it. This ones all on the parents, kids have NO respect these days for anyone or anything and they should be held just as responsible as the kids. Hit them where it hurts in their wallet. Maybe then they may wake up and raise their kids right with some freakin values. I bet these little s***s either have records already or are known to the police.

I think those kids probably won't be doing that again. Though I don't agree with him threatening the kids harm, he probably just did a huge favor for those parents. A good scare like that should set them straight

@LittleFrog- you literally read my mind! Kids lie, especially if that lie will take the heat off of what they did and put it on someone else. And let's be real here. Which of those parents, had their children actually been brought home (and how was Daniels supposed to do that exactly), wouldn't have lied to the cops for their kids and said that they had been home the entire time?

And I'm so sick of Stir authors who automatically assume the guy did what he's being accused of, especially when the accusers' claims are that sketchy.
