Gloria C. Mackenzie, 84, from Zephyrhills, Florida became a multimillionaire overnight this week when she won nearly a $600 million Powerball jackpot all by herself. The lucky lady took home more than $300 million in one lump payment and now it seems she did so all because 34-year-old Mindy Crandell let Mackenzie cut her.
Can you even imagine? Both were doing quick picks and she was just one person behind the person who brought it all home.
Still, the young mom who let Mackenzie cut says she has no regrets and what happened was meant to be. No bitterness? Really? Um, not me. Not for one second. See below:
Crandell is the kind of person we all aspire to be. She is patient and kind and accepting of the things she can't change.
But if I were 50 years younger than the winner who I let cut me in line with kids I had yet to put through college, then you better believe I would be bitter and feel badly.
Of course, the cynical side of me also wonders if she is saying she is happy for Mackenzie so Mackenzie gives her a cut. Will that happen? It remains to be seen.
In many ways, it seems like the right thing to do. To repay a kindness with some cash (especially when she has so much of it) seems right. On the other hand, if she starts giving some away, people will be knocking on her door for more within days. In the end, it is up to Mackenzie and whether she wants to share.
If it were me, I would share. Good karma and all. But you never know.
Do you think she should give a small cut away?
