Cheerleader Accused of Prostituting Her Special Needs Friend to Men for Money

girl accused of prostituting friendA Minnesota 18-year-old stands accused of a truly horrible crime. She allegedly picked one of the younger girls on her cheerleading squad -- a girl with a known cognitive delay -- and forced her to prostitute for money and then taking the profits.

Montia Marie Parke faces felony charges of sex trafficking and promoting prostitution for what she is accused of doing to her 16-year-old classmate. My heart just breaks for this girl who is said to have refused intercourse and asked to only do oral sex and then was refused by the john. What. The. Hell?

"Bullying" is such a popular catchphrase these days and it's very often overused. Any kind of social issue among teens and kids is now called "bullying," and it runs the gamut from schoolyard taunts to driving people to suicide. But this? This goes beyond anything we have heard of to date.

The cruelty of this girl is just beyond imagining. She took a vulnerable classmate and she treated her in an inhuman manner. It's almost too much to bear. What kind of girl does this?

She is a teenager technically, at 18, but she is also a legal adult, old enough to deal with the consequences of her actions. She is in the real world soon and that kind of attitude is truly scary. If she is such a sociopath in high school, why do we think that will change even one bit when she is out of high school?

Something went very wrong for this girl. Maybe she learned from her parents. Maybe she had a severe lack of supervision and was abused in some way. By the age of 18, though, she is responsible for what she does. She absolutely should know better. Hell, my 6-year-old would know better (assuming she even knew what prostitution was).

It will be very hard for the parents of the poor victim to ever trust her friends again, and for that alone, Parke needs to pay mightily. What a heartbreaking story.

Do you think a girl like this can grow up and change?

I hope she's charged to the fullest extent and no people like her, prevs never change.

Maybe she's just greedy and cruel. There are plenty of people who hurt others because they want to or can. They aren't all abused with awful role models.

If the girl was 16..i'm curious to find out just how much of a cognitive delay she has. If she's on the cheerleading squad she must at least be cognitive enough to say no/ yes? And also, if I'm not mistaken it says in the article she didn't want intercourse but agree to oral sex? Hmm..makes me wonder if she knew and might have even wanted to do it?

Well if you were raised to be that greedy and cruel, you probably didn't have the best role models, just saying.

carmen, the have downsydrome cheerleaders... Just because they don;t think or move as well as a "normal" person doesn't mean they can't do normal activities

When I read stories like this, I just want to lock my kids in my house forever and never let them out into the world.  Disgusting.

Oh my!! This is such a shame.  Clearly what Parke did was wrong and she should be punished for her actions in this situation but I am so sure that the "victim"  shouldn't be held responsible as well.  She is well enough to know that she didn't want to have intercourse but would have oral sex instead, then she knew what was going on was wrong.  And I think this story became public when Parke refused to give the her some of the money from the ordeal.  Where is this "John"?  He should be held responsible as well.

I'm wondering if the girl might have got tricked into it by calling it an initiation? Kind of like hazing for frats and the like? Not saying that she obviously didn't know something was wrong especially since she refused to have sex but agreed to oral, but what if she didn't know it was happening until she was with the guy and he said he paid for sex and she said no and offered oral instead? There's clearly more to this story than we know yet, but it's definitely an all around sad situation.

Don't judge the victim if you don't understand the circumstances. Many special needs children have a strong desire to please others. They crave acceptance. Who knows what the other girl may have said or done to manipulate her. The offer of an alternative does not imply her ability to understand the situation, only an attempt to avoid something she did not want.

Who knows whether she even knew there was money exchanged.

Taking advantage of a vulnerable person is wrong. Period. Both the pimp and the john should be prosecuted.
