If we've said it once, we've said it a thousand times: Some people just aren't cut out for kids. Two moms took "enjoy Mother's Day" to the extreme when they allegedly ditched their young children in order to go on a festive, Mother's Day booze cruise.
Billie Jean Williams and Mary Joyce Daffron were arrested and are being accused of leaving their 8- and 6-year-olds at Gator Joe’s restaurant in Florida. The children reportedly approached a staff member of the restaurant, explaining that they couldn't find their moms and suspected they left.
Turns out, they did!
When police arrived on the scene, a man said that he had seen one of the women get on a boat. The boat they were on was spotted approaching the beach, and the two women reportedly fell into the water because they were so intoxicated. Williams then began yelling at her 8-year-old for having law enforcement called.
Okay, here's the thing: Jail? Jail isn't going to do jack for these women. A parent who leaves their 6-year-old kid to go on a spring break-style booze cruise isn't going to learn a thing about right and wrong in jail. To be perfectly honest, it seems like these women need to be separated from their kids. What kind of example are they setting? And what other dangerous situations were these children put in?
I seriously hope this doesn't wind up with just a slap on the wrist for these ladies. They need serious repercussions. And these kids deserve to be with a proper caretaker. A person who leaves their child unattended for hours on end while they go out drinking is not a proper caretaker. They're a person who shouldn't have a kid.
What do you think of this?
