Castro Brothers Say They Knew Nothing About Ohio Kidnappings but Are Being Persecuted Nonetheless

Castro BrothersIn addition to the three women and child held captive and tortured in an Ohio House of Horrors, there may two others that were harmed by the actions of accused kidnapper and rapist Ariel Castro -- his own brothers. Pedro and Onil Castro were originally detained along with him for their suspected involvement. Now, however, it seems they may have known nothing at all

The men -- who are currently in hiding along with other family members -- were released by police, and authorities say there's no evidence they had anything to do with the abduction or torture of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight. Despite that, however, their lives have been forever altered, and they've been the targets of much hate.

In an interview with CNN, which will air Monday, the men spoke about how they've had rocks thrown through the windows of their homes and have received death threats. They say they're not able to go home and believe that people will always suspect they had some involvement. Pedro said:

I couldn't never think of doing anything like that. If I knew that my brother was doing this ... I would not be, not -- in a minute, I would call the cops because that ain't right. But yeah, it's going to haunt me down because people going to think, yeah, Pedro got something to do with this and Pedro don't have nothing to do with this. If I knew, I would have reported it, brother or no brother.

It's heartbreaking on so many levels. First to realize that someone you share blood with could be such a sick, twisted individual, and you had no clue. But then to have people think you could have anything to do with it is just unimaginable. I feel for them, and hope that with time and perhaps more assurances from police that they had no involvement or knowledge that they can resume their lives as normally as is possible in the wake of this horrific crime.

Can you imagine learning that one of your relatives did something this horrific?

If they had nothing to do with it... people should leave them alone. Just because they are brothers doesn't mean they knew or were even close. I don't have an iota of idea what half my siblings do for a living much less if they have people held in their basement.

I'm waiting for the girls to be interviwed. then we will all know who all was involved. I can't believe ONE man alone could keep these 3 girls for 10 years without any help

... I reckon it would be quite easy for a lone man to abduct three young women, two of which were teenagers, and keep them confided in a house. I am sure there was a lot of psychological manipulation involved, similar to how a pimp can control prostitutes. Threaten their family. Physically abuse them and then make them think it was their fault. Domestically violent men do this every day with their wives and it works for the most part. There is a very good chance these two brothers never knew what was going on and if they did see one or more of the girls, I'm sure their slick brother had an excuse for it, saying one or more of them are his "girlfriends" and maybe even forcing the girls to agree with that. When the girls are ready they will tell us how it all happened... but what happened is incredibly easy to pull off, which is the most frightening part of all.

Kimberly, the young women have reportedly stated that the brothers were not involved.

My prayers to everyone involved.

I have a hard time believing one man could accomplish that for that long with three women.. and this is coming from a woman who never thought a man could control her for any amount of time and found out the hard way how scary and manipulative some people can be.. not gonna say it's only men.. just we hear mostly about men doing it. I am thankful my ties to my family were never completely cut off and when everyone else in my family couldn't shake that sleazoid feeling any time he was around.. I finally got free.. unfortunately it has taken some time from being away from him to realize how much I really was controlled and how miserable I was for four years and two kids later.. I wouldn't take it back for anything though cause my babies came from it.. but also glad to have this time away from him while he serves his time on unrelated charges.. was always too scared to call cops on him.. laws mean nothing to people like him.

I think our desire for an access to information nowadays is so great that the media (and in this case) the police often jump the gun on things and report them before many facts have come to light. If you're unfortunate enough to be an innocent person associated with a high profile case, especially if you were initially suspected of a having a part in the crime, your name could forever be tarnished and it will undoubtedly negatively impact your life. In this case, I certainly understand why the police were initially interested in Castro's brothers. It was reasonable to interview them, arrest them, maybe even suspect them. But there's no particular reason their names and faces needed to be reported to and splashed all over the news.

Truly sadistic people are very much so capable of keeping multiple victims under order for a long time. People definitely possess the ability- not all people, but some. Look into serial killer history and it is very clear.

And look how he NEVER alarmed a house guest in those ten years. It is entirely possible that these guys knew nothing.

If the girls say they weren't involved thenthey probably weren't. If people don't believe them then that's ike saying the entire family and neighbors were lying as well.

i would say ask the ladies that were kidnapped if they were involved. if they had nothing to do with it leave them alone.

I agree with them. The 3 woman who were held captured are the ones that cleared them. But yeah I see countless people calling for their heads.
