Was there a fourth woman in the house of horrors? A new yet undeveloped detail has emerged from the investigation surrounding Ariel Castro's horrific imprisonment of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight. On the wall in the basement where the girls were kept locked up, the letters R.I.P. were scribbled above a woman's name. Knight told police that there had been a fourth prisoner at one time, but that she vanished one day, never to be seen or heard again.
Parents of missing girl Ashley Summer are hoping for a connection.
Ashley was 14 when she went missing in 2007 and she was last seen in the same neighborhood from which Amanda and Gina were taken. So far, no human remains have been located at the Castro resident, and an FBI special agent told local news:
We are keeping Ashley in our thoughts as we go every step of the way. Whether it is something we find at the house, or someone seeing the stories remembers something, we continue our search for Ashley.
To the outsider, it seems obvious that Ashley is somehow related to this case, if not the girl who went missing one day from Castro's disgusting and despicable lair of hell. But then again, nothing is certain.
What's especially hard about a case like this is that we're sort of left confused as to what to hope for. Do we pray that Ashley was one of Castro's captives, just for some closure? Do we pray that she was the one killed, so that she didn't have to suffer the unspeakable horrors? Do we pray that she wasn't in that house at all, leaving loose ends still untied?
All you can really do is hope that Ashley's loved ones get the answer they've been praying for.
What do you think?
